Most children begin their education at the start of the term that follows their third birthday. These Foundation 1 pupils attend on a part-time basis for up to fifteen hours per week. They are placed in a pastoral group of no more than thirteen children and are taught in our Foundation Stage.

Full-time attendance commences at the start of the academic year in which a child’s fifth birthday falls. These pupils continue to enjoy our Foundation Stage provision and are taught by the same staff team as our part-time children. Their year group is referred to as Foundation 2 but would have been called the Reception Class at one time.

Our Foundation Stage offers outstanding provision. We have developed a large outside area to support the curriculum in recent years.

Children move into Year 1 at the start of their second full time academic year. All of Year 1 and Year 2, plus some Year 3 pupils, are taught in our open plan Key Stage 1 area. Provision in this stage of the school has also been judged to be of a high quality.

Some Year 3 pupils and all of Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 are taught in our Key Stage 2 area. This is the oldest part of the school dating back to the 1930s. The traditional classrooms offer a calm and orderly environment which helps maximise learning. Again standards have been assessed as being very high in this stage of the school.

Due to fluctuating intake numbers some classes have a mixture of two year groups whilst others have only pupils from one year group. Average attainment at the end of KS2 is above national and local standards. The vast majority of our children transfer to South Holderness Technology College.
